With a presence both rugged and refined, this dining table is a centerpiece of continental cabinetry, likely originating from Spain or Southern France. Crafted in the 18th century, it is a perfect expression of the Rustic Baroque style, where the nobility of the wood (oak or walnut) meets the strength of hand-forged iron.
The thick tabletop bears the marks of time that define its charm: stabilized natural cracks and signs of wear that testify to centuries of shared meals. It rests on richly scrolled lyre-shaped legs, connected by a superb double-arched wrought-iron stretcher. This metalwork, typical of monastery tables or grand Mediterranean estates, ensures perfect stability while visually lightening the overall structure.
The mortise-and-tenon joinery is held by visible wooden pegs, and the ironwork is secured by original cotter pins, guaranteeing the piece’s authenticity. The deep, warm patina has been wax-nourished to reveal the richness of the wood grain.
