Antique carved wood paneling element, likely a trumeau top or decorative overdoor panel, made in France in the late 18th to early 19th century, in a transitional style between Louis XVI and Directoire. The composition is elegant and symmetrical, featuring a central motif of stylized foliage and delicate scrollwork, framed by restrained moldings, while the lower section displays a geometric trellis frieze characteristic of the neoclassical influence of the period. The piece retains an aged grey patina, with visible wear, minor losses to the carved and molded elements, as well as old restorations and alterations, all of which attest to its history and enhance its authenticity.
