Exceptional vase and baluster pedestal in polychrome faience from Nevers, both pieces signed A. Montagnon. Created by the renowned faience maker Antoine Montagnon, active between 1875 and 1899, in the style of Rouen.
The finely painted decoration features animated scenes in reserved panels, framed by scrolls and floral motifs on a blue background, with handles sculpted as horned mascaron heads, and a rare Italian Renaissance polychrome design.
The set is in excellent overall condition. It should be noted that there are discreet signs of professional restoration, executed with great care. These minor interventions do not detract from the aesthetic beauty or the structural integrity of this imposing piece. It remains free of any major cracks or chips, reflecting its careful preservation over the decades, reflecting the exceptional craftsmanship of 19th-century Nevers faience. A rare and prestigious object, ideal for collectors and enthusiasts of historic ceramics.
